Root Canals

Although most people dread hearing their dentist utter the words “root canal," a root canal is actually a rather conservative treatment option, and is often the only way to save an infected or heavily decayed tooth from extraction. Dr. Dixson is often capable of completing this relatively simple procedure in a single office visit.

The inner pulp contains the nerve of the tooth and is made up of canals that lead to the tooth’s root. If the pulp becomes damaged and cannot repair itself, the pulp will become susceptible to infection and eventually die. We perform root canals when the tooth is not restorable by other means.
